Brass Pochette Violin, ca. 1978

Here is a hand constructed Pochette Violin which I made in 1978 while studying at the Memphis Art Academy. I was quite interested in the visuals of old musical instruments and came upon these small violins that traveling musicians often carried. This one was hand constructed from many individual parts, cut, formed and soldered together. It looked quite different when I was done making it. Now 43 years later it has built up quite a patina. \
