I am sure that this is one antique pocket watch that you will not find another one like it for sale anywhere on the Internet. Signed on the movement Aug. Piguet and number 4775 on the dial and on the case. I suspect that August Piguet, abbreviated here to Aug, was a member of the Piguet family who later together with Audemars formed one of the top five watchmakers in the world- Audemars Piguet.
The watch you are viewing here measures 56.7 mm across and 70.5 mm to the top of the crown. It weighs a whopping 180.8 grams. The case is made of solid 18K gold and is of heavier gauge sheet gold. The bow measures 21.5 mm in diameter and the crown is solid 18K gold. Most if not all crowns on gold watches have a thin sheet of gold covering a steel body of the crown. Some over the years lost parts of this cover and this was the case here. About 1/3 of the crown gold cover was lost. I took the mold of the original crown and then recast it in solid 18K gold. It is better than the original one! It weighs close to 9 grams by itself, that is close to $900 just in the value of gold as of Oct. 17th 2025
The porcelain dial is signed only with the number 4775 and has an image of the parents who gifted this watch to their son as evidenced by the inscription on the inner case cover. I suspect that the family was quite wealthy and wonder if there is any connection to the well know Grant family who later formed Reynolds and Reynolds company…

The time is set by sliding the small lever located at the 4:12 position on the side of the crystal towards the crown. As you do that you see a small round pin to the side of it pop out. Now you set the time. You can manually depress the round pin to return the lever to it’s original position but if you forget, just the action of closing the front cover with press that pin in.
The movement is protected by 3 covers. The most inner one has a crystal so one can view the movement without having any dust or other matter get into the movement.
