You are looking at a pair of platinum fur or jacket clips which can also be used as a brooch. The platinum is most likely of 0.900 purity as was the customary use in the past. The flat pierced gold piece which holds the pair as one for the brooch, was made at a later time and is made of 14K white gold.
This brooch measures 2.58 inches across ( 65.5mm ) by 1.26 inches high ( 32mm ).
It weighs 29.6 grams and is set with close to 150 diamonds! I have counted 86 round diamonds and 56 baguette diamonds.
At the center of the brooch you see the largest baguettes which are 0.15 ct. each and on each side you find a marquise cut diamond.
One is estimated to weigh 0.38 carats and is of SI1 clarity and H,I color. The other one is estimated to weigh 0.46 carats and is VS in clarity and about L color. Majority of the baguettes are in the H,I color range and VS clarity. There are a few in the fancy yellow range.
The round diamonds are a mishmash of round brilliant cuts and single cut. Most are VS clarity with some in the SI1 clarity. Most are in the H,I color range with some fancy yellow and yellow.
The 2 clips exhibit a high skill level of craftsmanship as they are made of many parts which were hand fabricated and welded together with platinum as well. Working with platinum is quite different than working with gold because one has to use the torch flame of much higher temperature and one must use eye protection.
