What a find!!
Rolex Oyster Perpetual ref. 6285 made in 1960 based on serial number 5777*.
This is a rare reference model having a solid 18K rose gold case and rose gold hour markers .
The case measures 34 mm across by 39.4 mm long.
It had been detailed prior to our acquisition.
The champagne dial with beautiful and unusual rose gold hour markers is original Rolex as are the rose gold hands .
The seconds hand has some oxidation but it can hardly be seen with the naked eye.
The crystal is in great condition and appears to be original to this model.
The fluted bezel is still in remarkable condition for a 62 year vintage Rolex.
The setting/winding crown is rose gold as well and in like new condition.
The model number and serial number located between the lugs are still visible.
The watch is powered by a famed automatic chronometer movement cal. A260.
The movement is in a fantastic shape and keeping great time.
This is the same movement Rolex used for some of their early Submariner models which nowadays sell for way over $200,000!!!
The reference number 6285 can be found on the inside of the case back as are the Rolex logo and hallmarks together with several watchmaker’s service marks.
I have included a photo of this case next to the 18K yellow gold ring to show the color difference.
This watch comes with a deBeer’s leather band and a yellow gold plated buckle.
If you so desire we can make a solid 18K rose gold buckle at an additional charge.
We do not guarantee water resistance on our vintage watches!!
Any water damage at your responsibility.
This is the watch you buy to own a piece of Rolex history, a rare model. Priced at $8250
